Overview: Resin8 is a performance surf brand centered around bio-epoxy and hemp-integrated construction. The identity moves the brand beyond the product, positioning it as a practice rooted in craft.

“We need to evolve an existing wordmark into a conceptually driven identity that reflects both technical innovation and a holistic philosophy. The mark needed a sense of flow, balance, and progression, while remaining highly considered across surfboard forms, where placement, scale, and interaction with the board's geometry are critical.”

Descriptive keywords: resonance, natural, progression.

Conceptual & Visual Development

Route 01 //

The first conceptual route was an exploration of ‘resonance’, the logos form ident is informed by cyclical, or laminar flow of current; or ‘current storms’ within cymatics. Halftone was implemented to create depth and enable ease of application.

Route 02 //

The second iteration ident is a more natural mark, informed by sound in water and the interaction of ripples on the surface of water.

Design Solution

The ident centres on a reinterpreted '8'; a continuous flowing form derived from controlled inflection points. The result is a Möbius-like loop that communicates technical precision and organic movement simultaneously.

The new mark, in combination with the legacy wordmark come together to create the hero mark. Elements of the ident were then deconstructed and simplified to provide Resin8 with a variety of graphic elements to use as surfboard graphics, stickers, tees and other merch.

The second sprint to the project, saw the design and placement of the designed elements onto the surfboards. The the implementation of the elements further communicating that resonance, placing the developed ident at the heart of the board.
